When I'm deeply involved in a book that bears a certain similarity to my life, that resonates with my way of being or my beliefs or what I'd like to start thinking about, it is impossible for me to read anything else. Personally I need to have several books on the go at once to fit my mood and the attention I have available to give it. I don't read fast either.
